History

The tanning industry´s tradition dates back to 1860, when the founder of the company JAPIS, Jan Pivečka, started to process leather and started footwear production after World War I. After naionalization in 1948, JAPIS was managed by the company BAŤA and in 1952 was incorporated into the nationalized company a.s. Svit Gottwaldov. It was not until 1991 that factory was transformed into a detached division of the company a.s. Svit Zlín. After January 1st. 1993, the company obtained legal subjectivity under the name Prabos, a.s. Slavičín, then was transformed into today´s Prabos plus a.s..
