For sale is a beautiful vintage handmade Grandmother’s Fan quilt, measuring approximately 94” x 88”. This stunning patchwork quilt is a classic example of mid-century American quilting, likely made between the 1930s and 1950s based on the vintage cotton fabrics and traditional hand-quilting techniques.
The Grandmother’s Fan pattern is a variation of the Dresden Plate quilt and was a popular design during the early-to-mid 20th century. The pattern consists of fan-shaped wedges sewn together in a quarter-circle shape, set against solid background squares. This design allows for a scrappy, colorful aesthetic, showcasing a variety of calico, floral, and novelty print fabrics, many of which resemble feedsack or dress cottons from the 1930s-1950s.
