This particular scene is known as “The Witch’s Pursuit” from the Robert Burns poem Tam O’Shanter. It’s the Scottish folktale of a man that comes upon a coven of witches in the woods, and when he is discovered, he’s chased by the young witch Nannie, who vengefully pulls out his horses tail. I love this bowl, it would make an amazing accent on a display stand.
